When you share your intentions with us, you join our Legacy Giving Society. Members of this special community help ensure the long-term sustainability of EHDOC’s mission. There are many meaningful ways to support the mission of Elderly Housing Development and Operations Corporation through a planned gift. These options allow you to make a lasting difference while often providing financial and tax benefits for you and your family
Gifts Through Your Will or Trust (Bequests)
One of the simplest and most popular ways to create a lasting legacy is by including EHDOC in your will or living trust.
A bequest allows you to:
- Maintain control of your assets during your lifetime
- Support a cause that reflects your values
- Create a lasting impact for seniors in need
Your gift can be a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or a portion of what remains after other distributions.
Naming EHDOC as a Beneficiary
Certain assets pass directly on to beneficiaries and are not controlled by a will or trust. By naming EHDOC as a beneficiary, you can make a powerful impact with a simple designation form.
Assets that can include EHDOC as a beneficiary:
- Retirement accounts (IRA, 401(k), 403(b))
- Life insurance policies
- Annuities
- Investment or financial accounts
This option is easy to set up and can often be changed at any time.
IRA Charitable Gifts (Qualified Charitable Distributions)
If you are age 70½ or older, you may be eligible to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to EHDOC.
Benefits may include:
- Avoiding income taxes on the distribution
- Satisfying part or all your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)
- Supporting affordable housing and services for seniors
- This is a tax-efficient way to make an immediate impact.

Retirement Plan Gifts
Retirement assets can be among the most tax-efficient gifts to leave to a charitable organization. Naming EHDOC as a beneficiary of your retirement plan helps maximize the value of your legacy while supporting our mission.

Life Insurance Gifts
You may choose to name EHDOC as a beneficiary of an existing life insurance policy or transfer ownership of a policy to EHDOC. This can create a meaningful future gift with relatively modest current contributions.

Charitable Gift Annuities
A charitable gift annuity allows you to make a gift to EHDOC while receiving fixed payments for life. After your lifetime, the remaining funds support EHDOC’s mission of providing safe, affordable housing for seniors.
Charitable Trusts
Charitable remainder trusts and charitable lead trusts allow you to support EHDOC while also providing income to you or your loved ones for a period of time.
These options may provide:
- Income tax benefits
- Estate planning advantages
- Long-term impact for EHDOC residents
