For the last six months, the property has welcomed a weekly Veggie Van to the community. The van was provided through the Cornell Cooperative Extension in collaboration with the Office for the Aging, which provided Farmer’s Market coupons in the amount of $20 that could be used at the Veggie Van or any other produce market in the county.

A six-week course of nutrition and grocery tips through SNAP-ED NY (from the Cornell Cooperative Extension) was also offered at Lakeview Apartments. Ten residents participated in the program learning about topics such as how to buy food on a budget, how to prepare food, and how to stay healthy. Each attendee received a $20 voucher for fruits and/or vegetables from local produce stands including the Veggie Van.
We are fortunate that the Cornell Cooperative Extension continues to bring programs to our community that benefit all.
